How Typeoff uses AI to refine your transcription with grammar fixes, formatting, and more.
Overview
Typeoff can automatically refine your transcription using AI. This goes beyond raw speech-to-text — it cleans up your words so the output reads like written text, not a spoken transcript.
AI enhancement is applied after transcription and before the text is inserted at your cursor.
What AI Enhancement Does
Punctuation & Grammar
Automatically adds periods, commas, question marks, and fixes grammatical errors.
Typo Correction
Fixes homophones and obvious speech recognition errors.
Filler Removal
Removes verbal fillers like "um", "uh", "you know", "like" while preserving intentional mood particles.
Self-Correction Recognition
When you correct yourself mid-sentence (e.g., "send it to John — no wait, send it to Sarah"), the AI keeps only the corrected version.
Word Optimization
Replaces informal or spoken expressions with more professional alternatives when appropriate.
Structured Lists
Automatically identifies and organizes lists and steps into proper ordered or unordered formats.
Paragraph Segmentation
Logically breaks text into paragraphs based on topic shifts for better readability.
Writing Style
Choose a writing style that matches your use case. Go to Settings → Recognition → Writing Style:

Formatting Intensity
Control how aggressively the AI edits your text. Go to Settings → Recognition → Formatting Intensity:
| Level | What it does |
|---|---|
| Light | Punctuation and typo fixes only |
| Medium (default) | Removes fillers, auto-corrects, and formats paragraphs |
| Strong | Restructures sentences and trims redundancy |
CJK Spacing
When enabled, Typeoff automatically adds spaces between Chinese/Japanese/Korean characters and English words or numbers for improved readability.
Example: Typeoff是语音输入法 → Typeoff 是语音输入法
Toggle this in Settings → Recognition → CJK Spacing.
Vocabulary Learning
Typeoff can learn from your corrections to improve future transcriptions:

- Preserves your meaning — it never changes what you said, only how it's written
- Respects your style — refinement enhances clarity without over-rewriting
- Clean formatting — proper paragraph spacing and punctuation
